Story Sessions... Live Shows... Author's Page on the Amazon... and we all carry on!

Greetings! As April marches into May, it’s time for another roundup of what’s been happening. Unfortunately, this month isn’t as flooded with material as days past. That’s mainly because I’ve been sitting at the machine hammering away pages for a larger work in progress. In order to accomplish that, I needed to take a step away from other projects, namely the routine articles I’ve been writing for 25YL and Horror Obsessive as well as ignoring a few open submission calls. However, regarding those articles, I’m scheduled to have a few published in May, so stay tuned!

As far as publication, some things are in the pipeline, so to speak, but they won’t be out there for a little while. When exactly remains to be seen and until I can quote exact dates, I don’t want to say one way or another. Suffice it to say things are coming. One in particular is a drabble, no more than a hundred words, about dragons which was fascinating to write. It started out as one of those things—see a post about a submission and think that’ll be easy—then two weeks later finally compose something worth submitting. Writing such short micro fiction always seems like it’ll be easy but compressing a full story into such strict confines is a marvelous challenge.

The other thing is that live performances are finally becoming a thing again. I’ve been going out in Chicago sharing fiction and poetry live. And that takes a little time away from other projects, especially when performers – meaning me – are rusty. Along those lines, I’ll be performing some creative nonfiction for Story Sessions at Chicago’s Golden Dagger. If you live in the Chicagoland area, follow the link below to get tickets. The show is May 15th at 7 p.m. and promises to be a fabulous time full of fantastic storytellers.

Finally, at long last I got around to making an Amazon Author’s page. This’ll make it easier to locate some of the magazines and anthologies that’ve published me in the past, not to mention leave reviews. Although not every periodical I've been in is listed here, there’s a solid assortment of stories I’m proud of. Why not everything? Well, I have to contact publishers and have them tag me more clearly. It’s no one’s fault, and partly my own for not having an author page until now, but a short slog through bureaucratic nonsense should expand what’s available. Meanwhile, enjoy what’s there presently.

The upside is that this has allowed me to alter the Links to Greatness section here on the site. It now includes a link to my author’s page, plus details on how to hire me for audio narration. Voiceover is something I’ve done from time to time and have ambitions of doing more regularly.

Otherwise, thanks for checking in. I hope all is well with you and yours. As usual, keep popping around to see what’s been going on. Meanwhile, raise a glass and toast yourself for making it through another month. This hellscape hasn’t eaten you alive… yet… cheers!
