Lost at Sea lyric video

The Wreck of Hope album release is only a short while away. As such, that means doing the little things that help a promotional campaign. After checking the coffers, there is no budget, owing mainly to excessive celebration around the album’s completion. In other words, I spent the advertising allowance on a bar bill, and I have zero regrets about that. However, that means whatever happens next has to be made for pennies or less.

So I sat down to sketch a few ideas for imagery I could use in a DIY lyric video. Those pencil sketches went into the computer. Thanks to programs like GIMP as well as a few other digital drawing tools, I ended up with the images seen here. These will be included as album art for anyone who buys The Wreck of Hope.
Lyric videos are always a great concept for budget conscious music projects. They rarely require much editing software. There are plenty of free plug-ins available online as well as stock images and vids that can be incorporated into the final product. It mainly just takes time learning how to use various programs, not to mention sifting through material to see what works. I downloaded a ton of stock material then ended up using two videos in conjunction with several images I made myself.

I didn’t exactly jump for joy at the prospect of drawing my own material for The Wreck of Hope. Making art like this is time consuming, frequently frustrating as error after error occurs, and there’s no guarantee everything made will be of any use. I tossed two pictures in the trash which took me several hours to draw because they didn’t fit in, not to mention a third that got pitched because it never looked right. Yet, the results speak for themselves. Plus, when everything comes together there’s a certain satisfaction that no AI slop can deliver.

Anyway, the no-budget DIY lyric video is above. Below is a link to the preview player, allowing folks a taste of what’s coming on The Wreck of Hope. It arrives on June 3, 2026, available on platforms such as Spotify, Amazon, Apple, and Bandcamp. Until next time, take care, stay weird, and remember to feed the thing under your bed some veggies cuz its colon is clogged with kids.

The Wreck of Hope

At long last “The Wreck of Hope” is ready for release. The seventh Beerfinger album arrives on June 3rd, 2026. Although the album was mostly completed last year, I took some extra time to try and refine things as much as I could. That resulted in adding extra songs which then needed polish all their own. However, the record is set to arrive.

Below is an embedded player that’ll take folks to Bandcamp where they can preview a few tracks then perhaps pre-order the album. That said, other outlets such as Amazon, Apple, and Spotify should have their own similar systems in place. As usual, the music will be available everywhere I can get it.

I’m really happy how “The Wreck of Hope” turned out. Loosely inspired by the video game Dredge, it’s a haunting series of songs about rage, depression, weakness, and the strange optimism folks can accrue harvesting sparks in the dark. The various tracks feature an assortment of inspirations such as sludge metal, stoner doom, goth rock, and alternative, while mingling some strange takes that keep things distinctly Beerfinger. It’s weird, headbanging, oddly thoughtful music, especially thanks to some lyrical choices I’m particularly proud of.

I hope you enjoy “The Wreck of Hope”. If you do happen to give it a listen and like what you hear, please be so kind as to leave a review somewhere. And if you don’t enjoy anything, thanks for taking the time to give it a chance. Either way, my best to you and yours. Stay weird, keep cool, and remember to the old French toast that says, “Milk. Eggs. Cinnamon and vanilla. Whisk together. Dip bread then fry.”
