Interviews of San Cicaro... book reviews of Beach Bodies... the paranormal prospects of October... and Beerfinger rides again.

A lot of little events adding up to a great big whole this month. First and foremost, I had the privilege of being interviewed on the Brian Posey Press Show. This regarded Decades of San Cicaro, the anthology I contributed to not so long ago. Alongside fellow contributors Adrianna Valencia and Ian Abelson, we discussed the stories we penned as well what got each author into writing. In a way, it’s safe to call this my first interview as a professional writer. I like to think it went well, but more than anything, it gave the three of us a chance to promote a fabulous assortment of fiction. With any luck, it’ll pull a few readers towards the book.

Granted, I hope if I’m ever lucky enough to do such a thing again I can talk a little smoother. Though no one tends to hit a homerun on their first swing, I felt awkward. Shameless self-promotion has never been my strong suit. However, I’m determined to keep practicing it as things progress. If nothing else, I had a good time doing the interview and hearing about my fellow contributors actually added something to their stories.

Speaking of progress, I mentioned at the close of the interview a fifth Beerfinger album will be arriving soon. I’ve got most of the instruments done recording. I just need to tighten some lyrics and do vocals. This one ought to drop before the end of the year, but unfortunately, I have no set date. The aim is for somewhere around November. So, if you’ve enjoyed any of that material, get ready for fresh tunes.

Recently, I finished writing my second book review. Instead of being handed the assignment, I went out and got this one myself. It felt like a professional move, showed initiative, blah blah yackety shmackety yeah yeah and so forth. The review is for a book called “Beach Bodies” by Nick Kowalski. I’ll leave my main opinion in the article, but it’s the literary equivalent of a straight to VHS thriller. That’s not necessarily a bad thing. To get what I mean, follow the link below.

Beach Bodies Passes the Time - Horror Obsessive
Finally, I’ve got several articles lined up for Horror Obsessive next month. October promises to be a big season. I also think I’ll finally get around to recording some audio fiction. I’ve got a few stories set aside I think would make fantastic frightening listens. It’s something I’ve been meaning to do but haven’t been able to what with buying a place and moving the last couple of months. In addition, I may be doing another paranormal article for Horror Obsessive next month. If you liked my work on Cuba Road, the Congress Plaza Hotel, or Bachelor’s Grove—stay tuned to see if that goes down.

That’s all for this month. Remember to stay safe, keep weird, and never take any wooden nickels. Cheers!
